Top National Parks According to Facebook
The American Recreation Coalition
has recently reported the most popular national parks in the United States
based on Facebook check-ins. The data, which was collected by Facebook, showed which park was the most popular based on the number of people “checking in” to certain national parks.
Here is the list of the five most popular national parks and a little bit about each one. While these are only the top five of the ten listed in the report, read on to find out which parks you have visited and which you haven't!
1. Grand Canyon

We all know about the Grand Canyon. The majestic place located in the northwest corner of Arizona is one of the most popular national landmarks the USA offers.
It’s a place that from a young age you learn about, and want to someday be able to go to. If only to fly over and see the amazing caverns and the truly unique landscape that it holds.
The Grand Canyon is a no-brainer for the most popular National Park that people check in to.
Located in California, Yosemite National Park is truly one of the most unique places in the USA. Not often do you get to see mountains, valleys, rivers and wilderness all in one place.
With the beautiful scenery and tons of outdoor activities Yosemite has to offer, we can see why this is at the top of the list for most popular national parks.
Now when you think of parks, Yellowstone has to be one of the first to come to mind. I mean, it is America’s first national park.
Located in Wyoming, it’s setting is described as a mountain wildland, and is home to grizzly bears, wolves, and herds of bison and elk.
Offering plenty of camping and outdoor activities, Yellowstone is always going to be up there in terms of popularity.
4. Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts

This National Park might be strange or new to some people, but make no mistake about it, Wolf Trap National Park has some very defining features.
For starters, it is “the only national park dedicated to presenting the performing arts.” From May through September, multiple amphitheaters in the park present performances from music, to dance, to opera.
In addition to the music, the park is also home to 65 acres of woodland, streams, and wetland with a wide variety of plants, animals, birds, and wildflowers for patrons to learn about and explore.
5. Great Smoky Mountains

Located between North Carolina and Tennessee, Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers world class scenery as well as very diverse plant and animal life.
There is plenty of activities to do in the park, such as exploring the park with a Ranger, wildlife viewing and beautiful mountains in Cades Cove, or hiking to the Ramsey Cascades waterfall for an amazing view!
